Food: to Blog or Not to Blog?

Ever since I started working from home in the beginning this year, I’ve been cooking as a hobby (thank you to those who have tried my experimental food!!!). I never had any time or real desire to make recipes and such things last year–I know it’s really hard for a lot of people who work full time away from home; sometimes it is just impossible. Lately, I’ve been discovering some pretty bomb recipes as well, so I have Instagrammed them. BUT! Sometimes I also wished I had taken photos of the process with my real camera, so I could blog the recipes.

My biggest encouragement is actually when I fed Stephanie last night. I literally never attempt to try to feed her because she doesn’t eat meat, cheese, egg, creamy things or anything weird/gross. It was seriously a breakthrough when I made my spaghetti squash, and she liked it!!!! SO amazing. Seriously. It’s like one of the greatest joys in life when you are able to feed one of your best friends. STOKED.

So, what ya’ll think?? To blog to not to blog? It might be kind of nice to add in some personal things I like to do that don’t involve people….could be interesting….and I could lure more people into Mama’s Wang Kitchen.

Summer is Near

I really don’t have much to say about these two, except that I am so so excited for Chris and Jess (you can read more about them via mystery shoots). I am privileged to know them and absolutely blessed to photograph my friends. They are both so precious and very dear to my heart…I love them a lot, and I cannot wait to see them get hitched next month!!!!!

Goodbye Shyra & Brayden

I am so very blessed to have known Shyra and Brayden these last two years–you can read more about them here. I am sad to know they are moving back to Colorado because they will be missed very, very much by a large number of folks here, but I even more excited for their next season on where God is leading them to next. Shyra’s story has been so encouraging to myself and many others, and it is wonderful to witness God’s hand moving so much in their lives. I absolutely love and adore these very special people and know that they will be in my life for a very long time, even though they will be far. We’ve already had talks about visiting down there!! Shyra, it has been an honor to be your friend and to be part of your life. I will be praying for a safe drive down and a smooth transition as you both get settled back in the state. I just know the Lord will be blessing your lives during this new stage. Ya’ll have a ton of people up here who love and will be continuing to pray for you both. You will always be on our hearts, and we will see you again very soon!!! I still can’t believe how quick Brayden is growing up…he even looks so much older since our last shoot!! I love you both and will miss you very, very much. Shwang forever. <3

Rebekah & Charles

Meet Rebekah and Charles! They are so cute and were so fun to photograph. They’ve spent a good amount of time in Ballard with each other and have had some special moments here, so we did their engagement session over in Old Ballard and Shilshole! We had amazing weather, and the lighting was so good. Shot at some of my favorite backgrounds with so much color!! Super excited for their wedding coming so very soon. Thank you both for such a great shoot!! :)

Nenette & Russell | April 7th, 2012

Nenette and Russell got married at the Pioneer Park Pavilion down in Puyallup, WA. The weather was so good, and when I got down to the venue, everything looked so spring with all the tulips and colors! It’s always fun to see everything come together day of. We walked around Puyallup’s city center for portraits. This city is such a hidden little gem. I love coming to little burb towns and seeing how special they are. Nenette and Russell are super precious–they both teared up at the first look. :) I had a ton of fun with the wedding party as well. They were totally down to just walk around explore the city a little bit with me. The ceremony and reception were both held at the pavilion. My favorite parts are always the toasts…loved hearing all of the stories. :) Tons of food and dancing followed. I must say, I was super impressed with all the lighting during the dances…so much color! Thank you, N&R, for sharing your day with me!! I had a wonderful time meeting your family, friends, and also seeing a few familiar faces. Enjoy!! :)

Alki (Sunrise) With Ali

So I really, really love being an early bird and not many people are. :( But Ali totally is and is one of the few people I know who live for sunsets and sunrises! She also knows that I wake up around 5am everyday, so she had been wanting us to go out and watch the sunrise one of these mornings. Unfortunately, when we got to Alki at 6am, the clouds rolled in, and there was no sunrise haha. But it’s okay!! We plan on watching more as summer approaches. The sun rises as early as 5am in June! It’s just really unpredictable on how the sun is going to be a lot of times. Aside from failing at the sunrise, I had an absolutely wonderful morning with this special lady getting coffee and breakfast in Fremont. Always love catching up and spending time with her. We’ve known each other for almost 3 years now!! So crazy. :) Love you, Ali.

My Precious Repps

Okay, so I met the Kathryn and Cory around 2 years ago when they had their first baby girl, Alessia. We’ve been in touch ever since, and I’ve had the pleasure to photograph the family several times before this shoot!! :))) They are so, so precious and fun…absolutely adore all of them!! It’s also super cool because I actually ran into them in California last month and saw them again this past weekend on Easter. YAYYY!! Hopefully, I will be getting to see them more often in the near future. :) So, Alessia is 2 years old now and Eliana is 9.5 months! I’m sure you can tell by all the photos…but her eyes!!! So big and precious. These girls make me laugh so much and are such cute sisters. We took these over at the UW quad as the blossoms were in full bloom. Kathryn loves them and also went to school there. It was a really nice day outside so a million people were out there…but I think we got some good shots!! Enjoy.

Jenny’s Apartment

I first met Jenny at Lindsey & Miguel’s wedding; she was coordinating, and I was shooting. When Jenny first had me over to her precious little abode in Queen Anne, I felt like I was in some type of magical place. Everything was decorated so nicely, and all her little details had their own stories. She was such a great hostess and fed us many little delicious treats! Love the way this girl thinks and totally understands me and my little biz! Always a joy to talk and hang with Jenny. :)

Garrett

This is my friend, Garrett. We met at SXSW about 4 years ago at one of the Do512 events. I was living in Texas at the time, and he flew out from Seattle to jump on a tour. Had a ton of fun hanging with this dude, and he was part of my one of my really old projects later that summer in 2008. I’ve been wanting to reconnect with some folks lately, and Garrett came to mind now that we both live in the same city. It’s so good to just hear what he’s been up to and reflect on some of the good ole days, ha. Aside from teaching music to kids and finishing school, he DJs every Thursday night at The Havana for Soul Night. Ya’ll should check it out sometime as it is no cover and is usually a good dance party–myself included. I love Garrett’s positive energy and sense of humor. You actually can’t tell in these photos since I told him to be serious haha, but he loves to laugh and is probably one of the most friendliest people I have met. :)
