On the last weekend of September, I had the honor of shooting Kate and JJ‘s wedding in Texas held at The Winfield Inn in Kyle, TX. It was an elegant bed and breakfast venue for the wedding. This is one of the very first weddings I booked in the winter that turned out to be my very last for the summer, so I was super excited for this day! Kate had heard about me through a mutual friend in Austin, so she had contacted me, but I had already moved to Seattle. Turns out….Kate and JJ live in Portland, OR! We finally met when they made a trip to Seattle, and then I got to meet up with them again Portland not too before the wedding. Both Kate and JJ went to school at the University of Texas-Austin, but now live in Portland while Kate is working and JJ is finishing up his master’s at Portland State University. They first met during college at their best friends’ (Chris and Anita) cowboys and indians themed chili cook-off where Kate was dress as a full on Pocahontas costume, and the rest was history! They have enjoyed living in Portland the last couple years, but wanted to have their wedding in Texas with all their family and friends. But they did bring back a few things from the northwest for their guests!! As gifts, they prepared special loose-leaf tea and honey jars for guests to take home. After the ceremony, the night was filled with a ton of dancing. Let me tell you….these two can dance like no other! So much fun. I think I probably have too much dancing pictures on here….but the moves were just so good. After JJ finishes his program, they plan to move back to Austin to start a family. I enjoyed meeting you both as well as your family and friends back home! It was an amazing time getting to fly back and visit; thank you so much!! :)
