Baby Leighton | 4 Weeks

I was completely overjoyed when Brittany asked me to take photos of her and Tim’s newborn, Leighton Grace!!  I first met Brittany and Tim when I was working at the Starbucks in South Lake Union last summer because they lived in the condos right above our store and would come in all the time with their sweet little Eleanor.  She was just the most precious thing with her bright red hair and blue eyes  :)  I was so excited when I heard Brittany was pregnant with another girl; but after a few months, they moved to another place in Belltown, so I didn’t get to see them as much anymore.  It had been SO long since I’ve seen them, so I almost fainted when I saw Eleanor running around like a little grown up, haha!  She is soooo excited to be a big sister!!  The Gaydos’ invited me to their new home this weekend to hang out with the little ones and take some photos!  They were all just so sweet and beautiful, filled with many kisses.  These two little girls make me laugh so much–I am in love with them.  Thank you, Brittany and Tim, for sharing these precious moments with me and letting me take photos of the family!!  I am so thankful to be part of this time in your lives  :)

Week 10 | Kristin

Wow!!  Kristin is such beautifully talented lady with a HUGE heart and gorgeous hair, haha!  I’m pretty sure she is the very first wedding photographer that I’ve met in Seattle who has actually befriended me.  I think we officially first met at Musco‘s buffalo BBQ last summer haha.  It’s quite strange how MANY people I met at this thing….more of that to come later….this may or may not be foreshadowing something else  ;)  We both kind of knew of each other because Kristin was shooting DD’s wedding, but we had never really crossed paths before.  I immediately fell in love with her spirit and joy and just wanted to learn more from her.  We were both pretty busy this summer with wedding season, so I only got to see her once in a while during passing times.  I was sooooooo glad to be able to do this shoot with her and just really get to know her better, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way than a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island :)  We walked on as pedestrian passengers and just went the round trip to Bainbridge; we couldn’t get off because our parking was going to expire, but the ride was so beautiful.  Beautiful clouds and sky, hair blowing in the wind, views of the Olympic Mts. and Puget Sound!  Ferries will NEVER get old.  Kristin and I got to share our photography backgrounds and current thoughts on where God is leading us with these talents and gifts that He’s given to us, and it’s just so cool to have another person be in the same boat as you.  We are not alone!!!  We’re also on the same page with a lot of things, and I think we will both be learning so much from each other–whether it’s the business, photography itself, people, or the Lord’s teachings.  She is somebody I really look up to and admire her work; best of all, I think we just make each other laugh a lot!  Kristin is super fun to be around and I think pretty much anyone that meets her will just feel so comfortable around her–which is a huge quality to have as a photographer.  Please visit her website if you’re looking for an amazing, friendly, and fun photog  :)

P.S.  Since I write these blogs WAY in advance (a few weeks to months ago haha), just wanted to add that Kristin got a new blog up!!!  And you are now able to see her current and most recent work here!  Check it out!!  Blogs are super exciting and just a really great way to follow your favorite people and see what they’ve been up to  :)  Yay!

Dani - Love these! Kristin is so beautiful! I love the hair shots!Karen you did a awesome job:) as always!

Megan Titus - Karen, you have such amazingly beautiful friends. I always look forward to reading your blog! Miss youuuuu.

Kristin - Karen — are you kidding? Sally & Richard

First of all, I just wanted to say–these two are fantastic!!  Sally’s mom, Dana, contacted me for some photos of Sally and Richard for their wedding announcements whom I met at Brittney & Matthew’s wedding last summer!  Turns out Sally is the sister of Kelsey, a mutual friend who was one of B’s bridesmaids, who also knows another mutual friend….who knows another friend…ha!  It’s just a small world everywhere  :)  and it is SO cool that I get to meet and hang out with these folks!  Sally and Richard were so nice to invite me into their home on Holmes Point in Kirkland.  The weather was a little wet and cold, so we had a mini session around the yard and I got to play with their son, Mateo, for a little bit indoors where it was warmer!  Mateo is just the most precious thing everrrrrr.  Sally and Richard met in Panama while they were creating a school for indigenous Panama street children; after they got married this year in January, they both were finally able to move back to WA to continue their family here filled with God’s love and peace.  Ya’ll are so beautifully in love, and I am so thankful to have met you two!  We will most likely be seeing each other again for their reception later this summer!  Thank you both for having me take your pictures–I had a ton of fun hanging out your whole family that day!  :)
