So, I probably have waaaaaay too many photos on this post….but whateverrrrr. This was probably my very first real, out of state, 1+ days, vacation of almost 2 years. For some reason, I am never able to take the time to travel…or if I do, it’s normally to Texas or something. BUT this time, in the midst of one craaazy month of June during wedding season, me and Jims decided to venture off to Washington D.C. to visit my dear friend and his sister, Elizabeth. If you saw her blog post, she had moved across the country a few months ago, so this was the first time we’ve both seen her since she left Washington state. So, we flew some sketchy airline called AirTran, in which we have never heard of…but they turned out to be not that bad haha. It was the cheapest we could find, and it wasn’t even that cheap!! This last week of June was especially crazy for me as I had just finished 3 weddings and was working 10 hour work days, and with about only 3 hours of sleep each night. Let’s just say I became a little loopy by this trip. We also flew red eye connecting at Milwaukee, WI to our final destination. I’ve never flown overnight before, and it was VERY weird to say the least. It’s like you never even saw the night go by, and the sun was already rising by the time we got to MKE. Elizabeth came and picked us up via the Metro at DCA, and it was SOOOOO good to see her beautiful, shining face!! She had only been gone for like 5 months, but it seemed like forever. We went back to her apartment in Arlington, VA to drop our things off. I will try to summarize all that we did, so this won’t be a giant post….but the rest of our trip consisted of lots of laughing, walking, dinners, DMB, arts & crafts, Starbucks, museums, sweating, Cosi, parks, fireworks, American flags, political things and much needed rest. Pretty much we got to see Elizabeth’s new life in D.C. and how she’s been enjoying it on the east coast. This city is super different from the PNW, and it’s so cool to see her get adjusted to this place in a short amount of time. Thank you, my dearest Eliza, for being so hospitable to us during our stay. Your generosity and energy to show us your new city was greatly appreciated, and this was probably one of the best vacations I’ve had in a long, long time. It was also the first time I actually was able to “lounge around” on a couch and take naps in MONTHS…..so ridiculous. I especially enjoyed being trapped in a Maloney sandwich for five days, so I thank you both for providing me with much entertainment. :D
