Week 13 | Mike

Ya’ll are probably wondering….who in the world is this person?!  Well, this is my friend Mike from TEXAS!!  I met him during my senior year of college at Texas State when I was finishing my business degree, and he was getting his master’s in social work.  Mike was living with one of my good buddies, so that’s how we actually came about crossing paths.  My fondest memory of us is when Mike and I were sitting at the stoop one night (about a month before graduation), having some beers, and I was telling him that I was moving to Seattle after graduation and that I had no idea why because I didn’t know anyone here nor did I had a job lined up–but something was calling me here.  He was also in the same boatish as he was finishing school and figuring out the whole job situation and what to do after college.  It seems like all of us college grads have a small fear of the unknown future at times…but we just have to continue trusting in the Lord and know that He has an amazing plan for us, and we may never know what it is or what we are called to until it just hits us…with a rock–because God is funny and awesome like that  :)  I kept in touch with Mike for a few months after moving to Seattle, shared a little of my testimony with him after my big move and just had a huge heart for the dude, even though being so far away.  Fast forward almost two years later, I get a call from him saying he needs to change his El Salvador flights to Seattle, and I was like, “Dude, do it.  Come here, and you’re going to love this place!”  So, Mike and his buddy from his hometown (Temple, TX) came up to Seattle for a week and got to experience the great pacific northwest!  It’s so weird…but being around Texans just makes me feel SO much at home–it’s actually crazy.  Texans really ARE awesome haha.  But I spent a great weekend with these folks just catching up on our lives and hearing about our old college friends and God’s amazing grace these past two years in my life.  I got to take them to some of my favorite spots in Seattle and share my new life with them in this city.  So we literally took random pictures wherever we went haha, kind of weird for a mystery shoot, but whatever  :)  The weekend totally went by SO fast, and I had to work the next Monday.  But they were able to head to Oregon, the coast, back to Seattle, and up to Vancouver, BC that week, so they had plenty to do and see.  I hope the NW treated you boys well, I know ya’ll were completely exhausted from such an adventurous week and were ready to head back home, but the NW loves you and feel free to call this place your second home  :)

Michael Campos - Wang,
I am blessed and grateful to have a person such as yourself as part of my life (even with the long distance). I’ve seen how much the Lord has worked in you and your faith strengthen for His will. It’s always encouraging to hear your continuous pursuit for Jesus as He is pursuing you.Your love for God, life, people, and your city is clearly evident in the short time we got to hang out while we were visiting. Thank you so much for your heart and hospitality you reflected to us. That first weekend was the highlight of the trip for me.

Even with Seattle’s dark and gloomy days (which you love! And I like!), Jesus’ spirit shines light through you to those around you with your always pleasant attitude and love for life.

Thank your for this.
